HJ-D2 Sandblasted EVA Interlayer for Decorative Laminated Glass
HJ-D2 is a decorative EVA interlayer developed for laminated glass that requires a soft sandblasted-style appearance, diffused light and visual privacy.
After lamination, HJ-D2 creates a smooth satin-frosted effect inside the glass. Rather than completely blocking light, the interlayer diffuses transmitted light and reduces the clarity of objects behind the panel.
This makes HJ-D2 suitable for office partitions, shower glass, interior doors, hospitality spaces and other decorative glazing where designers want privacy without replacing glass with a completely opaque surface.
Compared with ordinary clear EVA, HJ-D2 changes the visual character of the finished laminate. Compared with opaque white EVA, it retains a softer translucent effect.
What Is HJ-D2 Sandblasted EVA Interlayer?
HJ-D2 is part of E&N HONJIA's decorative EVA interlayer series.
During laminated-glass production, the EVA film is placed between two glass sheets and processed under vacuum and controlled heating conditions.
The typical structure is:
Glass / HJ-D2 Sandblasted EVA / Glass
After processing, the decorative layer remains enclosed inside the laminated-glass structure.
The visual effect resembles the soft, diffused appearance associated with sandblasted or satin-frosted glass, but the effect is created by the interlayer rather than by physically treating the exposed surface of the glass.
This allows the glass processor to create a frosted privacy effect while retaining smooth glass surfaces on both sides of the finished panel.
The final appearance may vary depending on the glass type, glass thickness, EVA thickness, lighting direction, background distance and surrounding colours. For projects where the exact level of frosting or privacy is important, we recommend evaluating a laminated sample before mass production.
Typical Laminated Glass Structure with HJ-D2
Top Glass
The upper glass sheet forms the first exposed surface of the laminate.
Clear, low-iron, tempered or other suitable glass may be selected according to the required appearance and finished-glass construction.
HJ-D2 Sandblasted EVA Interlayer
HJ-D2 is positioned between the two glass sheets.
During lamination, it bonds to the glass while creating the satin-frosted decorative layer.
Its main visual functions are to diffuse transmitted light, soften background shapes and provide privacy.
Bottom Glass
The second glass sheet encloses the EVA layer and completes the laminated structure.
Because the decorative layer is inside the laminate, both exterior faces of the finished panel remain glass rather than an exposed decorative film surface.
What Does HJ-D2 Look Like After Lamination?
Soft Sandblasted Appearance
HJ-D2 produces a softer visual effect than a fully opaque white interlayer.
The finished glass appears frosted and satin-like rather than solid white.
This makes it suitable where the designer wants the visual character of frosted glass without completely closing the space.
Diffused Light
Light passing through HJ-D2 laminated glass is scattered rather than transmitted as a clear image.
The result is softer illumination and reduced visibility of details behind the panel.
Privacy Without Full Opacity
HJ-D2 is designed for privacy applications, but it is not positioned as a completely opaque interlayer.
Background shapes may remain perceptible depending on the distance, lighting and glass construction, while fine detail becomes much less visible.
Smooth Glass Surfaces
Because the decorative effect comes from the interlayer, the outer surfaces remain glass.
This is one of the practical distinctions between HJ-D2 laminated glass and some surface-treated frosting methods.
Applications of HJ-D2 Sandblasted Laminated Glass
Office Partitions and Meeting Rooms
HJ-D2 is suitable for internal office glass where privacy is needed without making the working environment feel closed.
Meeting rooms, consultation spaces and private offices can use the frosted layer to reduce direct visibility while still receiving diffused light.
Shower Enclosures and Bathroom Glass
Bathrooms and shower partitions are natural applications for satin-frosted laminated glass.
HJ-D2 provides privacy while maintaining a clean, light appearance and allows the decorative layer to remain enclosed within the laminate.
Residential Doors and Room Dividers
HJ-D2 can be used in sliding doors, bedroom dividers, bathroom doors and other interior glazing.
It works particularly well where clear glass is too transparent but an opaque wall would make the space feel too heavy.
Hotels and Hospitality Interiors
Hotels, spas and restaurants can use HJ-D2 for guest-room partitions, lobby screens, spa areas and decorative panels.
Its neutral frosted appearance can work with timber, stone, metal and a variety of warm or cool lighting environments.
Healthcare and Wellness Spaces
Treatment rooms, clinics, dental rooms and wellness spaces often require both light and visual separation.
HJ-D2 can be considered for such applications where a frosted laminated-glass appearance is appropriate.
Retail and Commercial Interiors
The satin-frosted effect can also be used for reception screens, retail partitions, fitting rooms and decorative display glass.
For safety-critical or regulated applications, the complete finished-glass construction should be selected and validated according to the actual project requirements rather than relying on interlayer data alone.
HJ-D2 vs Other Decorative EVA Grades
This section should remain on the page because customers need to understand why HJ-D2 exists separately from HJ-Y2, HJ-Y, HJ-S and HJ-C2.
| Model | Main Visual Effect | Privacy Direction | Typical Selection |
|---|---|---|---|
| HJ-Y2 | Light jade frosted white | Moderate | Light, bright privacy effect |
| HJ-Y | Jade white | Medium–high | Stronger white appearance |
| HJ-D2 | Sandblasted / satin frosted | High diffusion | Soft sandblasted-style glass |
| HJ-S | Deep jade frosted | Stronger privacy | Deeper jade-frosted effect |
| HJ-C2 | Super white opaque | Very high / opaque | Strong white blocking |
| HJ-G | Black opaque | Opaque | Solid black decorative glass |
E&N's current product catalogue lists HJ-D2 as a separate Sandblasted EVA Interlayer, distinct from HJ-Y, HJ-Y2, HJ-S, HJ-C2 and HJ-G.
HJ-D2 EVA vs Surface-Sandblasted Glass
This is one of the most useful sections for the HJ-D2 page because it explains the product rather than simply advertising it.
HJ-D2 EVA Laminated Glass
The frosted appearance comes from the EVA interlayer positioned inside the laminated-glass structure.
Typical structure:
Glass / HJ-D2 / Glass
Both exposed surfaces can therefore remain smooth glass.
Traditional Sandblasted Glass
The frosted effect is created directly by treating the glass surface.
This changes the physical finish of the exposed glass.
Which One Should I Choose?
The correct choice depends on the required glass structure, surface finish, cleaning requirements, visual effect, processing method and project design.
HJ-D2 should therefore be presented as a sandblasted-effect laminated-glass solution, not as a claim that it universally replaces every sandblasted or acid-etched glass construction.
Available Specifications and Customization
HJ-D2 is currently offered in 0.38 mm and 0.76 mm thicknesses, with standard widths of 2000 mm, 2200 mm and 2400 mm. The current page lists 100 m rolls for 0.38 mm and 50 m rolls for 0.76 mm.
For project selection, customers should provide the required EVA thickness and width together with glass dimensions, glass build-up, quantity, intended application and required finished appearance.
Where the privacy or frosted effect is critical, a sample laminate should be produced before larger quantities are confirmed.
Processing HJ-D2 EVA Interlayer
1. Prepare the Film
Inspect the HJ-D2 film before use and keep it clean during handling.
The film should be protected from dust, oil, moisture and unnecessary surface contact.
2. Clean the Glass
The glass surfaces should be clean and dry before assembly.
Dust, fingerprints, oil or other contamination trapped inside the laminate may remain visible after processing.
3. Cut and Position the Film
Cut HJ-D2 according to the required glass size and position it evenly between the two glass sheets.
Keep the assembly area clean during this stage.
4. Vacuum and De-air
Place the assembled glass into the appropriate EVA vacuum system or silicone vacuum bag.
Remove trapped air before and during heating.
5. EVA Laminating Furnace
Process the assembly in a suitable EVA vacuum laminating furnace.
This is not an autoclave process.
The appropriate lamination cycle depends on the glass thickness, panel size, EVA thickness, vacuum performance, furnace characteristics and production conditions.
6. Cooling
Allow the finished laminate to cool under suitable conditions before handling.
7. Final Inspection
Inspect the finished glass for frosted consistency, bubbles, edge condition, contamination and overall appearance.
A representative trial panel is recommended for a new glass construction.
Quality Control for HJ-D2 Sandblasted EVA
The QC content on this page should also reflect E&N HONJIA's actual production method rather than generic stock-factory imagery.
HJ-D2 film should be visually inspected online during production, without operators unnecessarily touching the moving film surface. Film thickness and full-roll width should be checked against the production specification, and the finished roll should be inspected for winding condition and appearance.
For decorative grades, the laminated sample is also important because the actual satin-frosted tone, light diffusion and privacy effect cannot be fully evaluated from film dimensions alone.
Finished EVA rolls should be clearly identified by model, specification and batch, then protected in the company's normal white horizontal roll packaging for storage and shipment.
Why Choose E&N HONJIA HJ-D2?
HJ-D2 is one part of a broader decorative EVA range rather than a one-film-fits-all white product.
E&N HONJIA offers several decorative options with different degrees of translucency, frosting, white intensity and opacity. The current product catalogue separately lists light jade, jade white, sandblasted, deep frosted, super-white opaque and black opaque EVA grades.
That gives glass processors the ability to select the film based on the required finished laminated-glass appearance, rather than simply ordering a generic “white EVA”.
Frequently Asked Questions
1.Is HJ-D2 completely opaque?
No. HJ-D2 is a translucent sandblasted-effect EVA rather than a completely opaque white interlayer.
It is designed to provide privacy and strong light diffusion while still allowing part of the light to pass through.
2.What is the difference between HJ-D2 and HJ-Y2?
HJ-Y2 has a lighter jade-frosted appearance and is intended for a brighter, softer privacy effect.
HJ-D2 is more focused on a clear satin or sandblasted-style appearance.
3.What is the difference between HJ-D2 and HJ-S?
HJ-D2 is positioned as the sandblasted / satin-frosted grade.
HJ-S produces a deeper jade-frosted appearance and should remain a separate product rather than being treated as another name for HJ-D2.
4.Is HJ-D2 the same as sandblasted glass?
No.
HJ-D2 creates the frosted effect using an EVA interlayer inside the laminate. Traditional sandblasting physically modifies the surface of the glass.
5.Can HJ-D2 be used for shower glass?
Yes, shower screens and bathroom privacy glass are typical decorative applications for this type of frosted laminated glass.
The finished glass structure should still be selected according to the requirements of the installation.
6.Can HJ-D2 be used for office partitions?
Yes.
Meeting rooms, private offices and internal glass partitions are typical uses where privacy and diffused light are required.
7.Does HJ-D2 look different during the day and at night?
It can.
Lighting direction, brightness, background distance and surrounding colours can change how transparent or private a frosted panel appears.
For this reason, appearance-sensitive projects should be evaluated using a laminated sample under representative lighting.
8.What thicknesses are available?
The current standard thicknesses are 0.38 mm and 0.76 mm.
9.What widths are available?
The current standard widths are 2000 mm, 2200 mm and 2400 mm.
10.Can I request a sample?
Yes.
For decorative EVA, sample lamination is particularly useful because the customer can evaluate the real frosted effect, privacy and light diffusion before placing a larger order.
Need Help Choosing the Right Frosted EVA?
For decorative laminated glass, the easiest way to select an EVA grade is to start with the appearance required after lamination.
Send E&N HONJIA the glass size, glass build-up, EVA thickness, required privacy effect, indoor or outdoor use, quantity and a reference photo if available.
We can then help compare suitable decorative EVA grades and prepare samples for evaluation.
