HJ-Y Jade White EVA Interlayer for Decorative Laminated Glass

HJ-Y is a jade-white EVA interlayer developed for laminated glass where a stronger white appearance, light diffusion and visual privacy are required.

Compared with clear EVA and the lighter HJ-Y2 frosted white grade, HJ-Y gives the finished laminated glass a more pronounced jade-white effect while still allowing part of the light to pass through the panel.

It is commonly selected for privacy partitions, bathroom glass, interior doors, hospitality spaces and decorative architectural glazing where completely transparent glass is not suitable.

Key Highlights

  • Distinct jade-white appearance
  • Stronger privacy effect than light frosted white EVA
  • Soft and diffused light transmission
  • Designed for decorative laminated glass
  • Available in 0.38 mm and 0.76 mm
  • Suitable for interior and selected architectural applications
  • Custom width and roll specifications available

What Is HJ-Y Jade White EVA Interlayer?

HJ-Y is part of E&N HONJIA's decorative black and white EVA interlayer series.

The film is placed between two sheets of glass before vacuum lamination. During heating, the EVA bonds the glass layers together and the jade-white colour becomes part of the finished laminated construction.

Unlike surface frosting or an applied decorative film, the white EVA layer is enclosed inside the glass.

HJ-Y is intended for projects where designers want more visual privacy than clear or lightly frosted glass, but do not necessarily require a completely opaque white panel.

Its jade-white appearance softens objects and shapes behind the glass and creates a clean, neutral background that works well in modern interiors.

The final visual effect depends on the glass type, glass thickness, EVA thickness, number of interlayer layers and lighting conditions. For projects where the exact shade or privacy level is important, we recommend producing a representative laminated sample before mass production.

Typical Laminated Glass Structure with HJ-Y

Top Glass Layer

The outer glass provides the finished surface of the laminated panel.

Clear, low-iron, tempered or other suitable glass may be used depending on the intended glass construction and project requirements.

HJ-Y EVA Interlayer

HJ-Y is positioned between the two glass sheets.

During lamination, it bonds the glass together while producing the characteristic jade-white translucent appearance.

Bottom Glass Layer

The second glass layer completes the laminated structure and protects the EVA interlayer inside the finished panel.

Why this structure matters

Because the decorative layer is enclosed between glass, the white visual effect becomes part of the laminated glass rather than an exposed surface treatment.

Why Choose HJ-Y Jade White EVA?

More Pronounced Jade-White Appearance

HJ-Y creates a stronger white visual effect than HJ-Y2 Light Jade Frosted White EVA.

It is useful where the glass should clearly look white rather than simply lightly frosted.

Privacy Without a Completely Solid Wall

HJ-Y reduces direct visibility through the glass while still allowing diffused light to pass.

This makes it suitable for interior spaces that need privacy without losing the lightness associated with glass.

Soft Light Diffusion

Instead of allowing a clear view through the panel, HJ-Y softens transmitted light and reduces the visibility of objects behind the glass.

This can give offices, bathrooms and hospitality spaces a calmer and more uniform visual appearance.

Decorative Effect Protected Inside the Glass

The EVA film is laminated between the glass sheets.

The jade-white effect is therefore enclosed inside the laminated structure rather than being placed directly on the exposed surface.

Suitable for Design-Oriented Glass Processing

HJ-Y provides glass processors with another decorative option without changing the fundamental Glass / EVA / Glass laminating structure.

Different glass combinations can be tested to create different white effects.

Applications of HJ-Y Jade White Laminated Glass

1. Office Meeting Rooms and Partitions

HJ-Y is suitable for office spaces where completely clear glass gives too little privacy.

Meeting rooms, management offices and corridor partitions can retain natural or artificial light while reducing direct visibility through the glass.

2. Bathroom and Shower Glass

The jade-white appearance works well for shower enclosures, bathroom partitions and privacy panels.

Compared with clear glass, it creates a stronger visual barrier while maintaining a cleaner and lighter appearance than a solid wall.

3. Interior Doors

HJ-Y can be used in sliding doors, swing doors and framed glass doors.

It is especially suitable for residential, hotel and commercial interiors where the designer wants light to move through the space without creating a completely open view.

4. Hotel and Hospitality Interiors

Hotel bathrooms, spa areas, restaurant partitions and lobby screens can use jade-white laminated glass to separate different functional areas.

The neutral white appearance works particularly well with stone, timber, metal and warm interior lighting.

5. Retail and Commercial Spaces

HJ-Y can be used for fitting-room partitions, reception areas, decorative screens, display backgrounds and other commercial glass elements.

The white laminated layer creates a clean visual background without relying on an exposed surface coating.

6. Decorative Architectural Glass

HJ-Y may also be considered for suitable architectural decorative glazing.

For outdoor projects, the complete glass build-up, panel size, edge condition, installation method and environmental exposure should be reviewed before the material is confirmed.

HJ-Y vs HJ-Y2: Which One Should You Choose?

Model Visual Effect Privacy Best Suited For
HJ-Y2 Light jade frosted white Moderate Softer frosted effect, bright interiors
HJ-Y Jade white Medium to high Stronger white appearance and privacy
HJ-D2 Frosted / sandblasted white effect High visual diffusion Decorative frosted surfaces
HJ-C2 Super white opaque Very high Strong white coverage and privacy
HJ-C Deep white High Deeper white decorative appearance
HJ-G Black opaque Opaque Black decorative and full privacy glass

Choose HJ-Y2 when:

You want a lighter frosted appearance and want more background shapes or light to remain visible.

Choose HJ-Y when:

You want the finished glass to have a clearer jade-white identity and stronger visual privacy, while still retaining some translucency.

Choose HJ-C2 or other opaque white grades when:

The purpose is much stronger visual blocking rather than translucent privacy.

Choose HJ-D2 when:

The design requirement is closer to a sandblasted or strongly frosted surface effect.

Processing HJ-Y EVA Interlayer

1. Prepare and Inspect the Film

Check the HJ-Y EVA roll before processing.

The film should be clean and free from contamination, visible damage or abnormal colour variation.

2. Clean the Glass

The glass surfaces must be clean and dry.

Dust, fingerprints, oil, moisture or other contamination trapped inside the laminate may become visible after processing.

This is particularly important with white decorative glass because local contamination can be easier to notice against a uniform white background.

3. Cut the Film to Size

Cut HJ-Y according to the required glass dimensions.

Keep the cutting and assembly area clean and avoid unnecessary contact with the film surface.

4. Assemble the Glass

Position HJ-Y evenly between the two glass sheets.

Check alignment before placing the assembly into the vacuum system.

5. Vacuum and De-air

Remove trapped air from the laminated assembly using the appropriate vacuum process.

Good de-airing is important to reduce bubbles and local appearance defects.

6. Heating and Lamination

Process the glass using the validated lamination cycle for the selected EVA thickness, glass structure and equipment.

Temperature and processing time should not be treated as one fixed value for every glass construction.

7. Cooling

Allow the laminated glass to cool under suitable conditions before handling and inspection.

8. Final Inspection

Inspect the finished glass for:

  • White-tone consistency
  • Bubbles
  • Edge condition
  • Local contamination
  • Laminating defects
  • Overall appearance

For a new glass build-up, a trial panel is recommended before mass production.

Quality Control for HJ-Y Decorative White EVA

Decorative white EVA requires both material quality control and visual inspection of the finished laminate.

Film Appearance

The EVA roll or sheet should be inspected for:

  • Cleanliness
  • Surface defects
  • Contamination
  • Colour uniformity
  • Visible damage

Thickness and Dimensions

Film thickness, width and cut dimensions should be checked against the production requirement.

Jade-White Colour Consistency

Because colour and translucency are part of the product's function, samples should be viewed under representative lighting.

Daylight, warm indoor light and different background colours can make the same laminated glass look slightly different.

Finished Laminated Sample

Test panels should be checked for:

  • Bubbles
  • Edge defects
  • Uneven white areas
  • Visible contamination
  • Bonding quality
  • Overall appearance

Batch Identification

Production and shipment records should allow the supplied material to be traced to the corresponding batch.

Why E&N HONJIA for Decorative EVA Interlayers?

E&N HONJIA provides a range of EVA interlayers for different optical and decorative requirements rather than offering only one white film.

The decorative range includes different levels of:

  • Transparency
  • Frosting
  • White intensity
  • Privacy
  • Opacity
  • Colour

This allows a glass processor to compare HJ-Y2, HJ-Y, HJ-D2, HJ-C2, HJ-C and HJ-G according to the finished-glass appearance required for the project. E&N's current product catalogue separately lists HJ-Y2, HJ-Y, HJ-D2, HJ-C2 and HJ-G within its black-and-white/decorative EVA range.

For projects where colour and privacy are important, physical sample comparison is recommended before mass production.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is HJ-Y transparent?

HJ-Y is not a clear EVA film.

It has a jade-white translucent appearance designed to reduce visibility through the glass while allowing part of the light to pass.

2. What is the difference between HJ-Y and HJ-Y2?

HJ-Y2 has a lighter jade-white frosted appearance.

HJ-Y provides a more pronounced jade-white effect and is generally a better choice when stronger visual privacy is required.

3. Is HJ-Y completely opaque?

No.

HJ-Y is intended to provide translucent jade-white glass rather than a completely opaque white panel.

For stronger opacity, HJ-C2 or another opaque white grade should be considered.

4. Can HJ-Y be used for office partitions?

Yes.

Office partitions and meeting rooms are typical applications because HJ-Y provides privacy while retaining diffused light.

5. Can HJ-Y be used for shower glass?

Yes, it can be considered for laminated shower partitions and bathroom privacy glass.

The final glass construction and installation requirements should still be selected according to the project.

6. Can HJ-Y be used outdoors?

HJ-Y may be used for suitable decorative architectural applications.

For exterior installations, the finished glass structure, edge condition, exposure and required durability should be reviewed before production.

7. Does HJ-Y look the same under daylight and indoor lighting?

Not exactly.

The perceived white tone and translucency can vary with the background, glass type and lighting environment.

This is why we recommend checking a physical laminated sample for appearance-sensitive projects.

8. Can I combine HJ-Y with decorative inserts?

Some EVA laminated-glass constructions can include fabrics, wire mesh or other decorative inserts.

However, material compatibility and the lamination result should be tested with a representative sample before mass production.

9. What thickness should I use?

The appropriate thickness depends on the glass structure, panel dimensions, processing conditions and finished-glass requirements.

Send us your glass build-up and application for specification review.

10. Can I request samples?

Yes.

For decorative white EVA, sample lamination is particularly useful because it allows the actual colour, light diffusion and privacy level to be evaluated before ordering larger quantities.
